India Pakistan Ceasefire Faces Strain After Operation Sindoor Retaliation:

Kolkata, May 11, 2025 – Digital Preeyam News:

India Pakistan ceasefire efforts appear fragile just hours after being declared on Saturday night. The truce followed heightened military tensions sparked by India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory move in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 Hindu pilgrims’ lives.

Despite appeals for peace, India-Pakistan ceasefire violations erupted as Pakistan allegedly launched drone and missile attacks across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, prompting renewed tensions.

India Pakistan Ceasefire: What Triggered the Agreement?

India and Pakistan ceasefire was announced shortly after Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri revealed that both countries had agreed to halt all military operations on land, air, and sea.

This sudden truce was brokered amid rising international pressure, with US President Donald Trump reportedly playing a key role. The trigger was Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based terror outfits.

Fresh Violations Shake India Pakistan Ceasefire:

Just hours after the ceasefire declaration, India accused Pakistan of launching a series of missile and drone attacks into Jammu and Kashmir, breaching the fragile truce and creating panic among civilians.

Drone Strikes and Missile Attacks Rock J&K:

Residents in Jammu and Srinagar reported hearing loud explosions overnight. The Indian Army retaliated swiftly, though sources confirmed that the situation is now stable across the LoC.

Eyewitness Accounts from Jammu and Srinagar:

Locals described a night of fear, with schools shut and markets closed across affected areas. A civilian from Srinagar said, “It felt like war had returned again. We could hear the blasts all night.

Pakistan Calls for Restraint, Denies Violations:

In response to India’s allegations, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement denying any breach of the agreement.

Pakistan remains committed to the faithful implementation of the ceasefire. Any violations being reported are not from our side. Our forces are exercising restraint and handling the situation with responsibility, the statement read.

Pakistan also called for communication channels to remain open and urged both sides to address any diplomatic missteps.

PM Modi Holds High-Level Review on India Pakistan Ceasefire:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, CDS General Anil Chauhan, and senior military commanders to assess the situation.

With western border states on high alert, Indian troops have been directed to respond firmly to any future ceasefire breaches.

Global Response to India Pakistan Ceasefire:

UN and Regional Powers Welcome the Truce:

The ceasefire announcement drew praise from global leaders and organizations. The United Nations, along with countries like Qatar, Bangladesh, Turkiye, and the United Kingdom, welcomed the truce and urged both nations to pursue peace.

Concerns Over Sustainability of Peace:

However, analysts remain skeptical about the longevity of the truce. “Without trust-building measures and accountability, this ceasefire may only last a few days,” a security analyst warned.

Opposition Questions Ceasefire Clarity, Third-Party Mediation:

Indian opposition parties have criticized the lack of transparency in the ceasefire deal. Questions are being raised about Donald Trump’s involvement and whether India is now open to third-party mediation, which traditionally it has opposed.

Leaders are demanding an all-party meeting chaired by the Prime Minister to discuss the future course of action.

Ceasefire Meaning: What Does It Signify in Military Terms?

In military and diplomatic language, a ceasefire refers to a mutual agreement between opposing forces to halt hostilities. The India-Pakistan ceasefire aims to stop military confrontations along the LoC and International Border. However, the current breaches reflect how difficult it is to maintain peace without strong enforcement mechanisms and mutual trust.

What’s Next for the India Pakistan Ceasefire?

With the ceasefire hanging by a thread, the path forward for India and Pakistan remains uncertain. The situation demands continued diplomatic dialogue, strong political will, and responsible military conduct on both sides. As the region stands on edge, the world hopes that this truce leads to long-term stability, not another temporary pause in decades of hostility.
